We had a great plan, we thought, on when we'd start a family and how our lives would progress. God's plan for our family, however, took us on a 7 1/2 year journey we never imagined... After failed infertility treatments, we decided to pursue adoption, and 3 years after completing our home study, our dream of becoming parents was realized. We were matched with a birthmom in February of this year, and our son, Ethan Reese Belue, was born on his due date on May 4th, 2011 at 5:39 pm. We were able to be in the delivery room and fell in love with him instantly. He weighed in at 7 lbs., 13 oz. and was 21 inches long, and his APGARS were 9 and 9 (an important fact for his PT mom who worked for 4 1/2 years in the NICU).

He came home with us from the hospital and it has been the best 2 1/2 weeks of our life. He is sleeping and eating well and is such a content and sweet baby. At his 2-week check-up he weighed in at 8 lbs., 13 oz and had also grown to 22 inches in length.
He has been lovingly welcomed by our family and friends who, like us, were all anxiously awaiting his arrival. One friend said it best, "you guys wanted a baby almost 8 years ago, but God wanted you to have Ethan." We believe "every good gift and every perfect gift is from above..." (James 1:17), and Ethan is our perfect gift! I'll close this post with a few (of the hundreds) of pictures of our last 2 1/2 weeks.
